i am a 28 year old female and i need to loose weight. i am 20 kilos overweight. my problem is this, i can stick to light food during the day, but in the evening i get so hungry! i did manage to loose 10 kilos by going walking and eating allbran for breakfast, a brown bread and salad for lunch. i used to eat chicken and veg for dinner, but i feel so hungry just afterwards. my body looses weight when i cut out potatoes,pasta and rice. but without those i am hungry. do you have any suggestions i could use instead?

AnswerHi, Debbi. Thanks for your question. Although cutting excess carbs is a great step toward losing weight, "excess" is the key. Cutting them out completely will make you feel empty, hungry, unhappy and eventually exhausted. I urge you to steer clear from such extreme measures.
I believe that at this point, you should focus on the other major factor of losing weight - a more intense exercise. Walking is great, but you should try and put some more intensity into your work out. Running and walking uphill might do wonders for you, even if you devote to those activities only 20 minutes per day each morning. And if you can spend more than 20 minutes per day on a work-out that elevates your heart rate and makes you sweat - all the better. A cardio activity will speed up your metabolism and will make you burn more fat during the day in your regular course of life. And, you will also be able to eat the carbs that you enjoy and find filling.
Remember, diet alone is NOT a good road toward health and weight loss. In fact, exercise is more important!
