QuestionI bought a locket and chain that I think is plated silver. It says 800 Ster PPC.
Could you tell me what that means?

In the groupings of Karat depiction numbers 800 means nothing as far as I know, however in the old school there a metal called brittannia silver which was either 650 or 800 grade, so if this is an older piece then this may be what you have. ie 650 parts silver + 350 parts copper or 800 + 200. Also the japanese still use similar metals like shakudo which has a similar make-up.
To be sterling silver it must be 925.....and PPC could be the makers mark.
