Sterling Silver Charm Enamel Replacement: A Guide to Customizing Pandora Charms

Question
Hello,

I purchased a sterling silver Pandora Charm that has tiny pink ribbons on it. It is a breast cancer awareness charm. I purchased it to have a jeweler remove the pink enamel and replace with black, to signify Melanoma awareness instead of breast cancer (wife was diagnosed with Melanoma earlier this year and Pandora only has breast cancer awareness charms). The jeweler who said they could do it for me, determined they couldn't because they couldn't get the black enamel. Another jeweler was unable to do enamel work.

If I attempt to do this my self, can you give me any tips to removing the enamel without ruining the silver? Also, what brand or kind of enamel would you recommend I use to re-paint the ribbons in black? I am thinking of applying it with a toothpick.

Any tips or any info to point me in the right direction would be helpful.

Thanks,

Ken

Answer
Greetings,

You should be able to remove it with a scorper, or scalpel - using it with care.
I would use car touch up paint as this will give you the hardest / most flexible result.

The best tip is to take your time and use magnification.

Good Luck, P
