I am trying to get into the makeing of jewlery.I have ordered some gem stones but have no clue as to different tools are good to start out with when makeing my own stuff.As of now i only have a loop,mm measure,and a ring size gauge.Could you advice me what else to get at fair prices.I have a place to get them i believe but need to know what i need.Thank you very much for your time.

Cassandra, here are links to photos of a messy, very messy working jewelry shop. Keep in mind, before the Christmas and holiday gift season this place was pretty straight! Now, with loads of repair and custom work to do, the place is a mess, again. The links below will give you an idea of some of the tools and equipment we use. In my next mail to you, with hope that you can get back with me before then, I will try to sort out what you really need to start out. What you will need is not nearly as complicated as all this mess in the photos..not nearly! : )

Cassandra, I have a keen interest in folks who want to get into jewelry making. For that reason and because I want to do you right on the answer, I will ask two things of you. The first is to give me a day or two to get some pictures together. I can put these on a website and send you the links to the photos. Pictures will help a lot in understanding what I say in words in the actual answer.
The second request is that you tell me if you are interested in a particular sort of jewelry work or more general, like everything. If you have a particular interest or particular things you want to learn to do, that will help me finetune the answer and help you in a better way. Fair enough?
The need for a day or two will give you time to get back to me with the "follow-up" option that comes with this message and let me know of any certain things you want to learn right now. And, this will of course allow me to take some photos, edit those and post on the web for you to see. Fair enough?

AnswerThe Pictures...if you still can't open the pictures buy highlighting and rightclick to copy then paste in the browser, there is another way: email. Allexperts keeps my email addys and your private and does not give it to me. A machine inbetween sends the answers to you. If you can't get the pictures to open, you can send me your email addys and I will send you an email with clickable links. The trick is how to do this and keep your email off the net.
This is how: Ask another question and be sure to check it "private". This should be a fresh question and not a follow-up. I will get your addys and then will send a "rejection" note to the question, to clear it from the board. Then, I can email the sites to you. In fact, email might be a good idea in the future when illustrations , etc., might be needed to help you see what I am talking about in certain kinds of jewelry work. That is your choice. Websites..these sites work for me and from other locations. Try right clicking on a site to copy and then right click on the browser window and hit paste. That should work. Some of this will be good for you to see. I could never type in such long site addresses! I have to copy and paste to make it work! Allexperts does not have acitve links in answers..I wish they did!
