Answer
Dear Artrina,

My first question is to ask if you have a Planned Parenthood or other women's clinic in your area that offers free or income-based medical care? If so, that may be a viable option for you if you have insurance issues right now.

The symptoms you are describing could simply be hormonally or cycle-related since your tests were negative and your cycle could be delayed for some reason. They could also be related to early pregnancy. That is the dilemma with early pregnancy symptoms - they tend to be so similar to pre-menstrual symptoms.

Did your doctor run any other blood work to make sure your electrolytes were within normal limits since you're taking the prenatals? Did he/she run an actual pregnancy test in the office?

I understand your anxiousness to get pregnant - and you may be - but for now my advice is to continue to pay attention to your body's symptoms and wait a bit longer. If this is just a delayed or missed period, then you'll know that in another few weeks. If you do not get another period in a few weeks time, I would test again. Make sure to use 1st morning urine to get the most concentrated sample for the most accurate results. By that time, if you are pregnant, the hCG level should be high enough for the test to pick it up. Until then, try and relax a little about it. (Easier said than done - I know!) :-) But stressing won't benefit your cycle or an early pregnancy, either one.

Please pay particular attention to the side pain. If that happens to increase in intensity and/or become accompanied by vaginal bleeding, I'd want you to report this to your doctor.

I hope this information has helped you and answered your question. Please don't hesitate to write again with additional questions. Have a happy Christmas season!
