Authenticating a Tiffany 750 Gold Necklace: A Guide

Question
My wife purchase a gold necklace that has Tiffany 750 marked on the clasp. weve had the necklace tested to see if it was gold and it is, what karate rating they could not tell us. my real question is, how would I know if it is tiffany. where would I find a source to identify the necklace.
thank you for your help in advance.

Answer
G'day Carl and many thanks for your query.

I find it extraordinary that a professional jeweler could test (and I assume charge you?) as to gold quality - and then NOT tell you what Karat Grade it was. Find Another One!

Maybe you need to see a qualified gemologist and appraiser and get a full written appraisal done. At least then you'll know for sure, instead if simply guessing.

The art of research nearly ALWAYS comes down to good old books - and if you can't find this one in your local Library, you might want to purchase it.

I recently wrote a report on one of my blogs (not relevant) but the link to the Tiffany book is on that page.

You might also like to add this query to my blog at http://how2valuejewelry.com/ as other may have had a similar problem. Can't hurt anyway and who knows what answers you may get.

Hope this helps...
