Bezel Setting CZ by the Yard: Solder Techniques & Alternatives

Question
Hi Peter,
Thank you for trying to help jewelers , It means a lot, I have a quick question, they have "cz by the yard" designs out there, the bezel setting around the stones , from your experience how would they solder the gold channel tubes without damaging the stone, they have it with garnet, citrine, amethyst, blue topaz, peridot, limon quartz, smokey topaz. some are not resistant to the heat. Or is there any other ways to make these designs in a very short time.

thank you for your time again.
best regards
kadir tokkan

Answer
HI KADIR,

THOSE SETTINGS ARE SPECIAL CASTINGS AND THE STONES ARE MOUNTED FROM THE BACK. SO ALL THE SOLDERING IF POSSIBLE IS DONE BEFORE THE STONES ARE MOUNTED. THEY MAY ASO USE A MATERIAL THAT ACTS LIKE A HEAT SINC. TO SOLDER THE CLASP THEY WILL COVER THE AREA WITH IT AND NOT HEAT THE BRACELET HARDLY AT ALL. THERE ARE ALSO SOLDERS THAT FLOW AT VERY LOW TEMPS BUT ARE NOT AS STABLE AS SILVER OR GOLD SOLDER. I THINK ALSO THAT CZ BY THE YARD USES AN ELECTRIC WELDER TYPE MACHINE THAT CUTS AND SOLDERS AT THE SAME TIME. GOOD LUCK!
