Antique Diamond Ring Appraisal & History - 1800s Design

Question
Greetings.  I have a ring that belonged to my husband's mother's great aunt.  Her husband had it designed in the late 1800's, and that whole family lived in Pennsylvania.  My mother-in-law has a couple other pieces of jewelry that were hers as well, both which her great-uncle designed and had patented.  She is not sure if he had mine patented or not, and says it may have been patented by the jeweler.  The center diamond is a full cut white diamond, weighing in at 13 points.  then, on either side of that, there are 3 smaller, what she says, are also full-cut diamonds, but they are -very small-.  The ring, she believes, is platinum, but I would have thought white gold.  Inside the band, on one side, it says "HEARTLOCK", and on the other side, it says "??? PAT-J".  I was told by a jeweler the other day that the total karat weight is probably about .25-.33 thereabouts.  Is there -anything- you might be able to tell from any of this?  I am completely in the dark as far as jewelry is concerned, and before I take it in for an appraisal, I'd like to have any bit of knowledge about the ring, if possible.  If you would like a picture or a video clip of the ring up close or under a magnifier, I am happy to oblige.  I hope I haven't wasted your time.   Thank you.  Sincerely, Angela O'Hara

Answer
Angela,

Your never wasting my time!!

I'm not allowed to appraise or ID on this forum. I can only answer specific questions.

Have the ring appraised by a Graduate Gemologist and Independent Appraiser. These questions can easily answered with all the proper equipment that I cant use with a computer.
I can recommend a good one if I know wher you are located.
