Diamond Ring in Jewelry Cleaner: Is it Okay?

Im afraid I made a big mistake. I left my diamond engagement ring in jewelry cleaner (red container) for over an hour when it says to leave it in for only 30 seconds!! Did I harm the diamond?

Hi Jenn~

Don't worry! You could leave it in there for a thousand years (literally) and never hurt the diamond.  Metals can be a little more finicky, but trust me an hour will not hurt.  Colored stones are a different matter.  Some are very sensitive to chemicals and for this reason I recommend only using very mild soap and lukewarm water along with a soft-bristled toothbrush to clean them.  Thanks for the great question, and you can rest easy now.
