Question
Opal Pendants
Hi
I have two pendants that I believe may be opal but I am not sure. If you think they may be, can you please tell me approx values (if possible). I have attached a photo to show the colouring.
The first one is 5mm wide, 8mm and approx 1mm deep (it is hard to tell for sure because of the casing). The colouring is lilac with orange/pink/green neon flecks (shown in photo). There is a marking of L.C. (I'm not completely sure about the 'C' but L is definitely first) - I don't know if that helps.
The second one white is white with orange and green neon flecks - the flecks are not as bright as in the other one. It is 4mm wide, 6mm long and 1mm deep.
Thank you, and I hope the photo will help!

AnswerHi Johanna,
THe left stone is a triplet ( 3 piece stone ) it is 3 pieces stuck together . Top is usually quartz , a thin veneer of opal and a glass or potch base. The stone on right is a solid stone , a white opal from either white cliffs ( if very old ) or coober pedy in south australia. They are not particularly valuable, but are nice pieces to own . Although the triplet is only really a thin strip of opal , it looks the best. Its too difficult to say the value of them but $150 should buy them both . Hope that helps kind regards Rod Keady
