Missing Gold Stamp on Ring: What Are My Rights?

Question
QUESTION: I purchased from an on-line auction a new 11 ct mystic topaz ring in a 10 kt yellow gold setting. It arrived today (after trying for it for 1-1/2 years as it matches a necklace I own!) and there is no gold stamp that I can see. Plus it is a darker shade of gold than the necklace setting. Should I go immediately and have it appraised or is it okay not to have a gold stamp in U.S.? P.S. This is an amazingly generous-with-information site! Thank you so much.

ANSWER: It may be that the ring was sized for the previous owner and the stamp was cut out.

QUESTION: This is actually a new ring. A number of them have been offered and I've been watching the price, bidding and waiting for 1-1/2 years from Bidz.com. Should the gold look the same as the necklace gold as they are both supposed to be 10k? Thank you for your help.

Answer
Sometimes gld can vary in color from piece to piece. It is a good idea to have it tested.
