Removing Yellowed Varnish from Diamond Rings: Expert Advice

I have a half eternity ring set with princess cut diamonds; they keep popping out; my jewelers has put some varnish !! on them and they have gone yellow; how do i remove the varnish?

HI STEPH,

FIRST OF ALL GET ANOTHER JEWELER. THEN GET SOME VARNISH REMOVER THAT WILL NOT HARM THE GOLD AND TRY SOAKING THE RING IN IT. YOU COULD ASK ANOTHER JEWELER TO RECOMMEND A SOLVENT TO DISSOLVE THE VARNISH. THEN TAKE IT TO A JEWELER THAT KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING AND HAVE THE STONES RESET SO THEY DON'T POP OUT ANYMORE. WHOEVER SET THE STONES DID NOT KNOW HOW TO CHANNEL SET THEM CORRECTLY AND SHOULD BE REDONE SO YOU DON'T LOSE ANY STONES. GOOD LUCK.
