Question
Squash Blossom Emmons
Hello, my mother gave me a necklace and earring set she bought at an estate sale in Avon, Ohio back in the early 80's. I know the stones are faux, but I have always loved this set, I also believe the metal is silver plated. I knew it had a mark and just started researching it today. The mark (attached to the chain), says EMMONS on one side and on the other side kinda looks like an eye, but under the magnifying glass it looks more like a circled E with a crown on top. The earrings also say EMMONS on the back side. Through my research Emmons put a trademark on pieces dated after 1955, mine doesn't have this. The design is squash blossom, I was able to find a few catalogs from Emmons on-line and couldn't find anything close(to mine), until the 70's. Was hoping for more information and a close year production.
Thank You for any information you can provide and thank you for answering questions, it is nice to have a place to ask and especially nice to have an expert answer.
AnswerHello Sheila and thank you for your inquiry. Emmons jewelry was the forerunner to Sarah Coventry Jewelry. You have a lovely necklace ! Below is the url for a site that shows all of the Emmons marks and you should be able to match yours up to give a date of production for your set. Hope this helps and good luck. Enjoy your jewelry !
