QuestionHi,
Which one is better treated/enhanced sapphires or the untreated?
Which type of treatments is best for sapphire enhancement?
How does treatment affect the price of sapphires?
And last what is the approximate price for a white gold 14K ring with sapphire diamond with the below specifications:
Sapphire
Color: Blue (medium dark)
Treatment: Heating
Carat: 2.38
Clarity & Cut: SI / Type 2
100% Natural Diamonds: 0.46 ctw
Diamond Color & Clarity: G-H / VS2-SI1
Thanks a lot and sorry if I made this too long
AnswerHi Fatema,
A lot of questions are subjective, treated or untreated is a matter of price and preference. Untreated means more money due to the rarity and therefore less availability. Today almost all sapphire is heated to improve the color and clarity. There is no perfect treatment for all stones. The more severe the treatment usually means a lower price.
The estimated value of your ring is also subjective and without seeing and testing it I can only take an educated guess. It would be approximately $3,500 to $5,000 .
