Ostby & Barton Jewelry History: Manufacturing & Stock Information

Question
My husband and I are also collectors of many different antique products. I have recently been trying to find out exactly when Ostby & Barton stopped manufacturing their own jewelry (40's?) and if a substantial quantity of stock was sold or kept by the family. I have found a piece here and there, but no large sums. Thank you for any information that you can share.

Answer
Hello Elena and thank you for your inquiry. You picked an interesting jewelry item to collect. The last entry I can find for the company in my resources is 1950. As I'm sure you know, Englehart Ostby died aboard the Titanic in 1912. Below is a site you may find interesting if you haven't already.....it discusses the will dispersion and has a lot of biographical information. Just copy and paste the below url into your browser address field and hit enter.

Hope this helps and good luck on your collecting !
