Finding Replacement Parts for Screw-On Threader Earrings

Question
Hello,
I had a pair of the shorter threader earrings that had a solid heart at each end.  You unscrewed one of the hearts to insert the earring and then put the heart back on.  I can't find earrings like these anymore and wondered if there is a place or website where I could get the parts to make my own?  Thanks much for any help on this matter.

Answer
Dear Charissa,

Threaders are neat and I have not seen the ones with a screw on attachment for the back part. The idea of something also behind the ear makes the look work so much better even when used with a dangle on the back of the ear on the ear post.

Where to get parts is a problem. You see, I work in a retail business and all our suppliers do not sell to the public. Still, I do know of one very good supplier you can try. Go to the web site and get the findings catalog or look at what you can on line. The company is Rio Grande, an old, well established and respected company.

After that, try to find your own supplier from ads in The Jewelry Artist magazine. This was once known as The Lapidary Journal and either address should work in an Internet search. Check to see if you can get a copy of the yearly issue with suppliers cataloged. If not, look for classifieds on the site or get a recent copy of the magazine. Many suppliers are advertisers with a huge variety of goods.

As for the screw back dangle, finding it will be tough. You may need to have a jeweler make a screw threaded end for you and a threaded dangle piece.

Best wishes in finding a tough find!  God Bless and Peace.  Thomas.
