Identifying a Vintage Gold Bracelet: GAB & GL Markings

Question
Hello, My mother had given me an old gold round link bracelet that her husband from england had given her. I Haven't Gotten A Lot of info on it... but was told by a gentleman at a pawn shop that it was around 70 years old. but he didn't explain the stamping on it. on the clasp it says GAB (there actually might be another number or letter after the gab but appears to be worn off) and then of course GL under the GAB. I do know what gl means... but not the GAB. Could you help me find out some more about this bracelet? thank you.

Answer
Hello Jennie and thank you for your inquiry. The GAB probably is the manufacturer of your bracelet. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate a similar marking in my resources but I am not heavy on European jewelry information. Early European and American jewelers were not required to register and a lot of smaller companies were not in business long enough to gain a "following" although their work was sometimes superb. The internet is a vast resource so it is possible you might be able to locate something similar - even in the online auctions such as ebay.com .  I will keep your question active and let you know if I do find anything similar and in the meantime, enjoy your bracelet !
