Antique 18K Ring Identification & Value - Amethyst, Aquamarine & Diamonds

Question

hinged Ring
QUESTION: I have this very unusual ring. It is marked 750 which I know is 18K. It has two gem stones one Amethyst and AquaMarine? there is one diamond on each side of gems . the ring is hinged. and can be reversed. Have you ever seen anything like this and do you know who the Maker may be? Also is it very likely that wiht it being 18K that the diamonds are real they look to be about .5K each
Do you any idea of the value as well?

ANSWER: Hi Kerry,

I have seen a few different hinged rings similar to this one. I do not know the maker of this ring. I really don't have enough information to give you an accurate idea of price but the bulk of it is in the gold weight. At 75% of the spot value of gold it would be around $1000 per troy ounce (31.1 grams) or $32 a gram for 18K. That is the best I can do without knowing about the stones and the labor involved and without seeing it in person. A very interesting design and a good Idea. The diamonds look to be .05 carat size not .50 carat. Good luck

QUESTION: I have looked closer at the diamonds and they are definately more than .05k I have compared them to my diamond that is .63k to my best of knowledge 10yr ago.I think the diamonds could be 1/3 and the gemstones are Amethyst and Blue Sapphire in cushion cut about 1 carat each. Do you know where I can get a good info about this ring.

Answer
Hi Kerry,

Well like I said I really can't tell you without actually seeing the ring in my hands. Best thing to do is get it appraised by a graduate gemologist and that should give you all the parameters except who made it. Thanks and good luck
