Question
Bottle
Hello, I hope you can help I have searched the internet high and low
and can not find out much about this bottle.I have seen maybe 3 others one of which is on ebay and the seller there knows nothing about it either..
I do know it's a prince Matchabelli duchess of York mini bottle, it has a label on the bottom of it,it is clear/frosted and has a frosted cross stopper, most of these have a screw on top which I think dates them to around the late 50s early 60s and mine would be dated mid to early 50s,or earlier, I would like to know the value of this bottle,so any and all help in that direction would be greatly appreciated..and any and all information on the bottle in general also..
Thank you
Brenda
AnswerHello Brenda and thank you for your inquiry. I am not a perfume expert but I believe this is one of the nicer of all the PM DY bottles. As far as value goes - perfume bottles like many other collectibles fluctuate in value depending on their current popularity, condition and rarity. Your bottle may sell for $100 today but $25 next week depending on who sees it and how badly they need it to complete their collection, etc. You can't second guess yourself when pricing items - book values are fine, but they are of no real value in determining current value. Look for similar items online - I found several and they ranged from $35 to $125. One perfume book had it valued at $200. The best advice I can give if you want to sell it is to look for current "sold" similar items at online auctions such as ebay.com - assess how much you paid and come to a price. You have the choice on ebay of using a reserve, but be advised many people will not bid on "reserve" items.
I know I did not give you a firm answer, but there is actually none to give here. I hope this helps and good luck with your beautiful bottle.
