Become a Cameo Dealer or Appraiser: A Comprehensive Guide

Hello Peter,

I have searched the web for data on how to become a dealer and appraiser concerning cameo jewelry. I can't find anything specifically.
Would a person just start out learning about cameos from books and tutorials, then begin buying and selling cameos, maybe starting a website too?
Would becoming a cameo appraiser require about the same training as a jewelry or vintage jewelry appraiser?

Hi Mike,

Your approach to doing cameos is a good one. I think you should also get a general overview of gemology and jewelry to round out your education. Experience is the most valuable tool and reading all the auctions and writings on cameos would be very helpful. So experience and knowledge are the two things needed for success in appraising.
