QuestionDear Bill and Sally,
Due to a theft in my house I lost all my jewellery, also my most appreciated items bought from Galeria Cano. If possible I would like to replace them, and my insurance company is also interested in the value of the jewellery. I tried to get in contact with the company by googling them, but the telephone numbers and the emailadress that I found seem to be invalid.
I would be very grateful if you instead could help me with these questions.
I only have 2 certificates left. The information on them are as follows:
1. T.5680 - TEMBETA
Culture: Tairona
Date of original: 800 DC-1500 DC
Original found in: Sierra Nevada
Reproduction made in: 24 K Gold plated
Original held in: Private collection
2.Q.6063 - MASCARA
Culture: Quimbaya
Date of original: 300 DC-900 DC
Original found in: Montenegro
Reproduction made in: 24 K Gold plated
Original held in: Private collection
Could you please help me with the identification and estimation of value?
Thank you so much for your help!
Best regards,
Elsa, Sweden
AnswerHello Elsa and thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately I cannot help you with the appraisal and valuation of your items. This needs to be done by an estate appraiser or perhaps they are known by another name in Sweden. Usually an insurance company will require a certified appraisal. You might get in touch with someone at your banking institution estate department or your local museum for someone who can appraise antiquities. The insurance company should also be able to provide you the name of someone they have used in the past for valuations.
Most appraisals require a hands-on inspection of the item in order to provide a good valuation. There are online appraisers who will work from good detailed photographs. Worthpoint is one I am familiar with. I have provided their url below. Just click on or copy and paste into your browser address field and hit enter.

Hope this has helped and you are able to find someone to assist you locally.
