Custom Jewelry Duplication Services: Protecting Your Precious Rings

Can you suggest of a good quality jewelry copier? Well, I'm thinking of having wedding bands and engagement ring to be copied to act as "dummy rings" since they are the ones we would wear everyday and not the real ones to protect them from wear and tear, and so they would last longer. The rings are platinum so we would do the copies in sterling silver and the diamonds to cubic zirconia, can you suggest of anyone who can do a decent job of them? Thanks a lot,

I do not know any particular jeweler to recommend for this work.  For large custom jewelry suppliers such as www.tradeshop.com, I imagine the word "copy" immediately brings up thoughts of copyrights, copyright infringement and a cease and desist order.  Most simply will not copy the design of another manufacturer out of legal respect of the copyright and because it may not be considered morally correct in the business. Relatively few larger producers will work in sterling and that is another consideration.

To have a close replica made you will likely have to find a local custom jeweler who will make the rings. Do not expect exact copies for the reasons given above and for techinical reasons. I suggest you locate local retail jewelers who do custom work and present your thoughts to them. You might find difficulty in getting a sterling set which is a copy of the originals; in that case have you considered sterling rings which are not like your original rings but similar in design?
