Understanding 14K CD Gold Markings on Jewelry - Value & Meaning

Question
Reads 14k CD on latch wondering what it means and what its worth

Answer
Roger, thanks for the question.

By federal regulation, when a metal quality is marked on a jewelry item, the maker's mark must be there also.  This is like the maker signing off that the karat mark is correct.  The stamp means the item is 14 karat gold and the maker is recognized by their abbreviation of CD.  It is impossible for me to value the earring with no more to go on. A jeweler should be able to give you an idea or you can go look at earrings to find some close to the same size and weight to get a rough estimate of what you have.  A jeweler would estimate the diamond quality and weight for value then the gold and manufacturing value of the earring.  From that, you get an appraisal.  Jewelers will not do this free of charge.

It says it is gold..as for anymore, I have no clue without a lot more information.

Best wishes.   God Bless and Peace.  Thomas.
