will a judge grant joint residential custody if both parties agree before the finalization of the divorce?

Typically the judge makes a decision in the divorce if the parties can't decide for themselves and they are fighting over it.  As long as the parties are in agreement then they can get what they ask for whatever that may be; custody, visitation, living arrangements, etc.  I hope this helps you some.
