Understanding a Transverse Fetal Position in Pregnancy
Questionhi lilly
i am 35 weeks pregnant on my fourth, when i was at my 33 week check up the doctor said the baby was breech and since my 34 th week the baby is transverse (the doc confirmed) which is really uncomfortable,i have tried all the exercises to move the baby but with no luck, she moved back breech for a day and then moved back transverse,i have tried to get info on the internet but there isnt much as its rare,i havnt got a low placenta either.could you tell me why the baby would go into this position and what the chances are of her turning, and if i need a section will i have to get one early and is there risks to the baby if i go into labour early as all my other labours were very quick.
thank you
AnswerHI Debs,
there is a chance the baby will get into position. Another thing, the ob may try and externally rotate the baby first and if no success, the a c/section will happen. Chances are another ultrasound will be done a couple of days before your due date, and then if still transverse, they may try turning and then section.
