Understanding Pregnancy at 36 Weeks: Vaginal Discharge & Previous Premature Birth

Question
This is my 3rd pregnancy. My 2nd child was a premature birth and she was to early to make it on her own.I have been having discharge sometimes heavy, and sometimes none at all.I have just been to the doctor and he said something about me being soft and i am not familiar with that term.what does that mean? and the other ? is if i went into early labor with my 2nd child can i still carry full term or will she be early?

Answer
Hello.  The good news is that most people consider 37-42 weeks full term.  You are almost there.
Being soft means your cervix is preparing for birth.  That does not mean that it will happen today but does mean it will be happening shortly.
Each pregnacy is different, unless there was a reason from your second pregnacy that could be happening in your third pregnacy then you probably won't have a repeat early birth.
 Good luck and Congrats!
