QuestionDear dooctor,
I'm 23yrs old and for the past year i've been having unprotected sex but have not been successful in achieiving a pregnancy. i was using using the injection to prevent pregnancy after my daughter was born. my gyna prescribed serophine when my periods started i missed my periods and still am. took the beta Hcg test and it came back negative.so it i 'm not pregant where are my periods? my doc has given me something for the periods to start, ans she suggests that i should have another cycle supported with serophine. can this medication cause my periods to stop? i'm very worried. thank yo
AnswerIf you have ever taken DepoProvera shots for prevention of pregnancy, that may be the culprit. The DepoProvera has some annoying complications. It can completely stop your periods, it can cause irregular bleeding, or it can cause unpredictable bleeding throughout the month. This can occur many months after you stop taking the injections. The Serophine will not cause your period to stop, but will merely enhance the possibility of ovulation. I would take Provera to start your period and then follow the instructions of your doctor. Good Luck.
