QuestionI have some questions about conception and birth & delivery.
(1) How long does it take for a baby to conceive?
(2) If inducing labor, when is the best time do so?
(3) What are the medical and non-medical reasons for inducing labor?
(4) Can labor be induced upon mother's request just for convenience?
(5) What are the risk to inducing labor?
Thanks
Answer Hello. I will go in order.....
1. I am afraid I do not understand this question. Please re-word it.
2. I do not suggest induction unless it is very dangerous not too. (see question 3) But, you need to be at least 37 weeks.
3. Sometimes induction is suggested if the baby is going to be too big, if the mom or baby are in danger or if the pregnacy has went to long.
Sometimes women want to be induced because of the certain birth date or they are simply tired of being pregnant.
4. Some Doctors are more likely than others to honor a mother's request for induction. This is at the sole discretion of the Dr. as far as if they will let you induce for no medical reason.
5. The risk to inducing labor our great. Depending on how you are induced. If your water is broke you risk infection if not delivered in a timely manor. If you are drug induced you risk a reaction to both you and baby.
You have to remember you are forcing you body to do something it does not want to do.
Also something to think about an induction labor is more painful than natural onset of labor. OUCH!
Good luck to you.
