Understanding C-Sections: Preparing for Your Delivery
QuestionI am ten weeks pregnant as of today, and I am concerned about the delivery. I know it is a still months away but I am trying to learn everything that I can. A c-section never entered into my mind until people started telling me that I was too small to have a vaginal birth. I know that there is no way of knowing until I go to the doctor, which is this Wed., but if I am too small I would like to know all that I can so I can have time to think it out and make plans. What concerns me the most is that if I have to have a c-section, what is the safest form of anesthesia for my baby?
AnswerHello Sarah- thank goodness you are thinking about this issue NOW and not waiting until 35 weeks!!! Your body will grow just the right baby for you to deliver vaginally. Your size or height has NOTHING to do with it. I want you to go to a website called Nancy Wainer Cohen- she is THE expert on c/section prevention- she has written two books that I strongly urge you to get and read- you can order them from her site or amazon. They are called The Silent Knife and Open Season. You might also enjoy a site called BirthLove. Hope that helps- Cheri.
