I just had a home preg test and came out neg. Could I be pregnant?

Answer
Dear Maria,

I won't say it is impossible, but the symptoms you describe sound hormonal in nature. So, it's difficult, especially with the age WE are, to "diagnose" a pregnancy simply based on symptoms. Our hormones are fluctuating quite a bit at this point and we may have some of these symptoms.

While tubal ligations do fail, it is rare. Tubal ligation, regardless of whether the tubes are cut, burned, clipped, banded, or tied, is about 99% effective, meaning that about 1% of women will conceive an unplanned pregnancy after tubal ligation.

I would suspect that the absence of periods that you are having is more likely due to peri-menopause. However, the general recommendation is that if you miss three consecutive periods, you should see your doctor for evaluation so that a cause can be determined. If you remain concerned that pregnancy is a possibility, then go ahead and see your doctor sooner so that pregnancy can be ruled out and your mind can be put at ease.

I hope this information has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
