X-Rays During Pregnancy: Risks and Safety

Hi-
I'm not sure if I'm pregnant or not,, but I just stopped using the patch for hormonal reasons and I am a few days late- and I am regular like clockwork.  I just had X-Rays done on my neck and back last week, and I'm worried that if I am pregnant, that my child will be deformed or have special needs.  Is this true?

Hi Michelle,

your lateness is most likely due to your body getting back on track after using the patch. Any time you stop a form of hormones for birth control your cycle needs a few months to become regular again. Right now it is too early to expect your body to be like clockwork.

I wouldn't worry about being pregnant right now, or the x-rays. You should be just fine; and even if you WERE pregnant, the tiny amount of exposure you got to an xray is very minimal; nothing to be worried about.

good luck- check with your doctor if the cycle irregularity continues... it all sounds very normal though.
