Twin Pregnancy: Understanding Ectopic & Intrauterine Pregnancies
Questionjust curious, is it possible to be pregnant and have a normal uterine pregnacy and a ectopic pregnancy at the same time?
AnswerIt is, indeed, possible to have a pregnancy in your uterus and one in your tube. I have had two of these in 25 years of practice. It is quite rare, though. Most of the time, if you have an intrauterine pregnancy, you will not have one in your tubes but may have an ovarian cyst until 12 weeks gestation. However, if you have severe pain on one side of your abdomen and a sonogram shows an Intrauterine pregnancy and a mass in your adnexal region, you may need a laparoscopy to determine what is going on.
