Can You Get Pregnant After Tubal Ligation? | Expert Advice
QuestionHello,
I am 25 yrs old, and had my tubes tied 2 years ago to this date. I am not sure on the method name that I had done, I just know my OB said she would only tie them, and remove very little, that way if I changed my mind it could be reversed. My fiance and I have been having unpretected sex, my periods are always regular on a 28 day cycle, very heavy 5-7 days long. My last period in the end of Sept, was only 1 day long if that, and heavy for only a few hours then very light for the rest of the 24 hours. Since then, I have been dealing with weight gain, swollen and very tender breasts. Also this morning I woke up with my nipples feeling like they were on fire and I am starting to produce colostrum from my right breast. I have had a dull lower back ache, and periods nausea, made worse by not eating, and some cramping and serious mood swings. The only place I have gained weight is in my breast and in my abdomen...I look pregant... I took a home pregnancy test 4 days ago and it was negative...is it possible that I might still be pregnant even though the test came back negative?
AnswerHi Tasha,
Pregnancy is rare but still possible. I think there is a high possibility that you are pregnant especially as your breasts are leaking. Wait a few more days and take another test, if it's negative go to your doctor for a blood test. If you aren't pregnant then this is most likely due to a change in your hormones, which should correct itself on its own. Good luck!
