QuestionI had a tubiligation 7 years ago and not sure exactly which way they did it. Now my last period was late and when it did happen it only lasted that day and was just spotting. Now I am having morning and motion sickness. Pregnancy test from the store have never worked with me. Could it be that I am pregnant. I am only 29
AnswerDear Brandy,
Tubal ligations are considered a permanent form of birth control, however there are occasions when tubes do find a way to grow back together even when the procedure is performed successfully. It does not happen often. Tubal ligation, regardless of whether the tubes are cut, burned, clipped, banded, or tied, is about 99 percent effective, meaning that about 1 percent of women will conceive an unplanned pregnancy after tubal ligation. This failure occurs slightly more frequently in younger women.
If home pregnancy tests have not been effective for you, I would advise you to go ahead and get a serum beta hCG test, or even a qualitative blood pregnancy test, at your doctor's office or local womens clinic. At least that way you will know for sure whether this is actually a TL failure or a hormonal issue which is disrupting your cycles.
I hope this information has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well!
