Understanding Height Variations in Teenagers: A Comprehensive Guide

Question
Hi,
I'm kelly, I don't know if you can answer my question or not but I couldn't find anyone who could-so I'm asking you.  I hope you can help.
You see, I'm an average 14 year old(almost 15),
except for my height.  I'm about 4' 8", but I'm not a dwarf.  I'm shorter than everyone else, and I am the shortest one in my family too, even my younger brother is taller than me.
My mom's side of the family is full of tall people, they're all like 7 feet tall, except for my mom- she's about 5' 4".  And my dad is 6'.  My great grandma was 4' 10".
so... Could you tell me the tallest I can get to be?  Also, what age do girls stop growing... I heard that it depends on when you start your peroid, (I started mine at age 12 if it helps you figure this out.)
Well... I really hope you can help me.
Thanks,
Kelly v.

Answer
Hi Kelly:  I'm so sorry that I am unable to be of much help with your question -- I honestly do not know (and I doubt anyone else can say definitively, either) how tall you might expect to be.

I CAN tell you, however, that my ex-husband grew 4 INCHES -- in college!

If you have a pediatrician, you might bring this question up at your next visit; I would think they would be knowledgeable about growth expectations for your age group.

Best of luck to you, Kelly; sorry I couldn't be of more help.
