Midwife Care: C-Sections, Pain Management & First-Time Pregnancy

Question
HI, I AM PLANNING TO GET PREGNANT FOR THE FIRST TIME.  MY HUSBAND AND I ARE CONSIDERING A MIDWIFE.  ALTHOUGH WE NEED MORE INFORMATION.  1ST, WHAT IF I NEED A C-SECTION?  EVERY WOMAN IN MY FAMILY(MOTHER,SISTERS,GRANDMOTHERS,COUSINS,AUNTS) WAS NOT ABLE TO GIVE VAGINAL BIRTH.(THEY DID NOT DIELATE)
2ND, WILL I BE ABLE TO USE DRUGS(EPIDURL) WITH A MIDWIFE?
ANY OTHER TIDBITS YOU MIGHT HAVE WILL BE HELPFUL.  THANKS.

Answer
Hello Angela, I am glad you are thinking all this through, it is very important to think about these things.
Some midwives will go to the hospital to deliver, that is good because if you need a c-section or other care beyond them you are right there.
If you deliver at home you could get yourself into trouble if something happens exspecially if the hospital is a long ways away.
Most midwives are natural only!!!!!!!!  NO DRUGS!!!! If you think you might need drugs (don't feel bad if you do, labour is painful) then you might want to consider a Dr.
Good luck!
