Fertility Advice: Trying to Conceive After Miscarriage
QuestionI'm 29 yr old. I have a 6 yr old daughter. I have had two miscarriages since my daughter was born and feared that the hope to have any more children would not happen. Now after so many years we are wanting to try again. So my doc gave us a few tips to help conceive. i.e tilting hips upward after intercourse, charting ovaulation and BBT. I have not been on any birth control and my cycles are regular 30 day cycles. As of the last week I've been experiencing headaches, tenderness in breast, nausea but no vomiting, I feel physically drained. The last two days I have noticed that I have alot of vaginal wetness. This is not normal for me. My cycle is due on Monday. I guess my question is are these signs of pregnancy or is my body just going out of wack?
AnswerDear Katherine,
The symptoms which you have described can be symptoms of early pregnancy. However, most symptoms of pregnancy are due to increased hormone levels. So the very same symptoms can also be due to hormone surges within our cycles. That is why it so difficult to "diagnose" pregnancy based on symptoms alone.
You will need to test for pregnancy to know for sure whether you have conceived. Although some tests claim accuracy on the first day of a missed period, I usually suggest that women wait until the week after a missed or spotty period before testing for pregnancy. This tends to minimize the incidence of false negative results and also avoids wasting money on a test for a simple delay of a period by a few days. When/if you test make sure to use 1st morning urine to get a concentrated sample for the most accurate results.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well and fantastic results. I will have a good thought for you!
