Unexpected Spotting After Pill Missed: Causes & What To Do

Hi I am 23 years old with no childern. I have been on the pill for five years and I have never missed a pill until a few weeks ago about the second week in Dec. I take it a 1pm everyday. At the time I missed my pill I didn't remember until 7pm the next night. So not only did I miss but I had to double up late. Now this is my problem...

I started spotting brown blood 7days before my period all the way into my period. The first day of my real period started out really heavy and bright red. It also had clots the size of a dime. "I never get clots". The day after it went back to a brown spot and continued to be lite. This spot lasted for 4 more days. My last normal period was 11-24-04. My weird spot started 12-16-04. Heavy period for one day was 12-22-04.  Every thing stoped on 12-26-04.  I have taken a home pregnancy test and it said no.  Is this normal?  Should I get a blood test?  Or am I just driving myself crazy.

You had a normal period on December 22, even though it was only heavy for one day. It lasted for 4 days. This is normal. The spotting you had  was probably due to the missing of the pill and doubling up the next day. It is insignificant and I doubt that you are pregnant.  If a pregnancy test showed a negative result, you are definitely not pregnant. Don't worry. Just continue taking the pills on time.
