Infertility Concerns: Understanding Conception & Ovulation

Question
This is my first actual month trying to concieve by using the ovulation chart. I've been having unprotected sex with the same partner for years. And still nothing. I had my period on dec. 12 and it lasted one week. I had a 26 day cycle between this and the last period. Im only 23. I have no kids. But had unprotected sex 4 years. Is something wrong with me. I have no medical problems. Im not over or under weight. Little to no stress. I would think women my age wouldnt have these problems. Ive tried to get pregnant without tracking. Now im doing my best to track ovulation. I just hope the chart is right. Weve been having sex everyday since i stopped my period sometimes twice a day. What happends if we have sex everyday and nothing happends

Answer
I'm not a doctor but I've had some experience and done lots of research on fertility.  A cycle that is only 26 days long is usually not long enough to sustain a pregnancy.  Ovulation usually occurs 14 days before your next period.  If the length of time from ovulation to bleeding is too short there isn't enough time for the pregnancy hormones to kick your body into "pregnancy" mode, so your period just starts again and if there was a baby conceived it is lost.

Merry Christmas!!  I had some time so I looked up some more information:

Here is a website:  http://www.suite101.com/lesson.cfm/17730/1049

This one mentions the short post-luteal phase and recommends vitamin B6.  I took that (they recommend 50 Mg but I took 1000 mg for a year and got pregnant and I had a short PL, too.)  There are some herbs and also progesterone cream that can help, too.

Here is another article on infertility which recommends progesterone cream for short PL phase.  http://www.virginiahopkinstestkits.com/infertility.html

A supplement that is recommended for short PL:  http://www.ovarian-cysts-pcos.com/vitex.html

Thanks for letting me help you.  I hope you find something that works for you soon.
