Fertility at 49: Exploring Options with Family Egg Donation

Question
I am 49yrs old...just got married this past December for the first time.  I went into menopause four years ago and a few years prior to that I had a tick bite and am also dealing with RA from the Lyme disease.  I am taking natural hormones BI-EST/PRO/T(E3)2.5/100/0.5 CAPSULE
My question is: is it possible for me bear a child if I carry the eggs of a family member that has been fertilized with my husbands sperm. Forgive me right at this moment I can't think of the medical term for this but I think you will know what I mean.  I long to have a child and especially since my husband also has never had children.
Where can I go to get more information on this subject? I live in Florida.
Thank you

Answer
If you have enough estrogen secreted by your body, and you have an intact uterus, there is no reason why you cannot be a surrogate mother. Your husband's sperm can be used to fertilize a donor egg and the fertilized egg can be implanted into your uterus. YOu will need hormonal replacement, but it has been done in the past. I would suggest that you consult with a reproductive endocrinologist at a tertiary medical center.
