Cesarean vs. Vaginal Delivery: Understanding Maternal Risks

Question
I'm 25, I have two children and my lmp is 12-28-04.

I've read that scheduled csections have a lower death rate for women than vaginal delivery. Is this true?

Answer
That is not true. Ahy major surgery carries a greater risk for death due to anesthesia risk or operative risk then  a vaginal delivery would carry. However, if there is an indication to have a cesarean, it should be performed. If you have had a previous cesarean section, there is a 1% chance of rupture of the uterus at the site of the previous uterine incision. Any other problem will add to that risk.
