Clomid Dosage & Ovulation Timing: Risks, Benefits & Progesterone Testing
Question I was on clomid 50mg cd-2 thrugh cd-7 but wasn't ovulating. I am now on 100mg same days. I also am on metformin. I was wondering if it post a bigger risk for conceiving multibles (twins) on a higher mg of clomid and what advantages and disadvantages of being on clomid cd-2 thrugh cd-7 instead of differant days? Also I made a mistake and went in on cd-20 for my progesterone test to see if I ovulated and it came back that I hadn't. Could the test of been wrong since I didn't go on cd-21? Thanks in advance and sorry for so many questions.
AnswerClomid works by enhancing the probability of ovulation. Sometimes it is necessary to increase the dose of Clomid before ovulation will occur. I usually st art sith 100mg and sometimes go to 150mg before I notice ovulation.A higher dose of Clomid will not increase the chances of multiple gestation, although multiple gestation is, indeed, a possibility when taking Clomid. Studies have shown tht a combination of Clomid and metformin has a marvelous success rate in ovulation and pregnancy. There arew many different regimens of Clomid use (cycle day 5-9 or 2-6 or other methods) There is no one correct method of treatment. I would continue with the clomid for 6 months. Good Luck.
