Tampon Use After C-Section & Mini-Pill: Is It Too Soon?
QuestionI'm 31 years old and just had my 3rd baby by c-section on August 3rd (7 weeks ago.) I started taking the mini-pill last week (about 8 days ago) and I am bleeding heavily since yesterday. I've been trying to use tampons for this and cannot fit one all the way in. It seems something is blocking the way, which has never been the case before. Is it too soon for tampon use? Why would this be the case? Husband couldn't enter all the way, either - But last week seemed to be normal, we think. (no it isn't a tampon already in there.)
thanks,
Angie
AnswerIf you believe there is a blockage of some sort in your vagina since the cesarean section, you should have your doctor check it out right away. There may merely be some spasm of the vagina, but there may also be a foreign body in the vagina (sponge, etc). If something is in there, it can be removed easily most of the time. Until you check it out, use sanitary napkins instead of tampons.
