Questioni am 44 y/o (went through 2 failed ivf, ended up pregnant on my own) with a beautiful, healthy miracle 2 1/2 year old daughter. Surprise when my lmp was around 9/2/05, had beta done 10/3 was 1208, next one 10/05 was 1440, and 10/7 was 1880? Now i know that no one can predict what the outcome will be, but while i thought my starting beta was a good number, i'm really concerned they aren't doubling. (not bleeding, no cramps). There such a wide range of betas published i just don't understand how to look at these numbers?
thanks so much for your time.
AnswerIf your last period started on September 2, the best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after missing your next period. The best time to take a pegnancy test would be on October 6. Although a Beta HCG usually doubles every 48 hours, it is not written in stone. As long as the HCG is rising, it is still a good sign. I would wait a week and repeat the HCG test and see what shows up. A sonogram at 6 weeks from your last period should show a fetus and a fetal heartbeat if the pregnancy is viable. You will be six weeks around October 15. Take a sonogram then and you will know for sure.
