Labor Duration: Does Subsequent Births Shorten Labor?

Question
I am 23 my name is adam Krulicki,  I am obviously not pregnant but I'm doing a documentary on giving birth for CJIQ radio.

My question is:  Everytime you give birth is it true that the time of labour cut's in half?

If you can please get back to me that would excellent.

Answer
There is no way to predict how long labor will last, whether it is the first pregnancy or the 25th pregnancy. Each pregnancy is different. Although in the first pregnancy the "latent phase" may last around 48 hours (from a closed cervix until 5cm), some women can progress 1cm / hour and some take longer. It is definitely incorrect that each time you give birth the time of labor is cut in half. Sorry.
