Pregnancy & Allergy Relief: Safety of Benadryl & Tylenol

I am ttcing and I O'd Nov 6th.I have a really wollen gland in my neck and it hurts into my ear.Last night I took Allergy medicine that had Diphenhydramine & Tylenol in it.I just looked it up on safefetus.com and it says it can cause a lot of birth defects. If I am pg will it affect the baby so soon? What can I take that is safe for Allergies? Thanks Dr. your Great!

Both Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and Tylenol are safe for use during pregnancy. We use Benadryl as a sleep medication during pregnancy and to control allergic symptoms and itching during pregnancy. Tylenol is the only pain medication that is completely safe during pregnancy. Neither cause birth defects. Don't worry.
