QuestionHello, I am 22 years old, I have one Child and the day of my last menus was OCtober 6th 2005. My husband and i are trying ot concieve. I took my birth control pill for one week in October and then stopped taking it. I haven't had a period since October.I have been taking Pegnancy tests and they come up negative. Is it possible that I ovulated later because of how I stopped taking the pills? Could I still be Pregnant, and it is just to early to tell? With my son it took 6 weeks for the test to come up positive? I have had a few symptoms come and go like nausea and 1 or 2 days fo frequent urination. I am very confused. Thank You, Laura
AnswerIf your last period started on October 6, the earliest that you could have ovulated would have been on October 19 and you could ONLY have conceived if you had sex on October 18,19,20, or 21. If you did, indeed, become pregnant on one of those days, a pregnancy test will not show a positive result until 14-21 days after conception. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after you miss your next period. Since you were due for your next period on November 2, a pregnancy test taken after November 9 should be accurate. If the test was negative after November 9, you probably are not pregnant. If you have any doubts, take a blood test for pregnancy (Beta HCG) and you will know for sure. Also, if your last period started on October 6 and you did become pregnant, you should now be 6-7weeks pregnant. A sonogram at 6-7 weeks gestation will show a fetus and a fetal heartbeat and helps to confirm the pregnancy.
