Dysplasia & Pregnancy: Risks & Concerns - Postpartum Experiences
QuestionI dont know if you can answer my question but here goes. I got pregnant in 2008 with my DD. At my 6 week PP check up I was diagnosed with high grade dysplasia. I got a LEEP (laser not cone) procedure done January 2010 and have had many biopsies since then (about 4 or 5 biopsies) I was wondering if you knew if these aggresive biopsy's could potentially cause problems with conceiving #2? What other complications "could" arise once pregnancy is established? Also DD took 2 cycles to conceive. Is it possible that because of my surgery that it can take longer to conceive #2. I have red up on this but I keep getting the same answers with little detail. A few sentances about pregnancy but nothing about trying to conceive post surgery. Thank you if you can answer my question and thank you anyways for your time if you can not answer this question.
AnswerDear Kristine
I am not sure about what do u mean by DD. Generally speaking, a single LEEP usually does not have major consequences on pregnancy but multiple biopsies may let you get some difficulties in getting pregnant because of the lack of cervical mucus and the difficulty in retaining semen inside the uterine cavity after intercourse if the LEEP involves the cervical internal os. This can be overcome by keeping urself in bed with waist elevated under a pillow. It may cause problems after getting pregnant such as preterm labor. This depends on the degree of involvement of the cervix.
The only person who can give you accurate information is your doctor as he can examine and assess the condition of the cervix.
Good Luck
