QuestionI am 31 years old and have 1 child who will be 2 in January. When I got pregnant before, it happened the first month we started trying. I was also on a 28 day cycle at the time. My last 5 periods started on June 24th, July 31st, September 10th, October 16th, and November 19th. I tried taking the ovulation test on December 5 -10 and they were all negative. I had sex on December 4th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th. I took a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative. I know in previous answers you said to wait until 7 days after your missed period. My question is: Can you tell by your CM before you are due to start your period if you are pregnant?
AnswerApparently, for the past 6 months, you have been having a cycle that lasts 35-37 days in length. Therefore, if you are ovulating, it is occurring around cycle day #21-23. When was the date of your last period? Wasw it November 18 or did you get one in December, yet? Usually, if you got your period on November 19, you would have ovulated around cycle day #14 (December 2) and could have conceived on December 1,2,3, or 4. If you did become pregnant on one of those days, a pregnancy test will not show a positive result until 14-21 days later (December 16-23). However, since your cycles were so long, you probably ovulated later in the cycle. Cervical mucus is very innacurate in telling when ovulation occurs and is even less helpful in telling when you are due for your period. You may have to have your gyn regulate your cycles and then calculate when ovulation occurs. If you have any doubts as to whether you are pregnant, take a pegnancy test if you do not get your period by January. If it is negative in January, you are definitely not pregnant.
