Questionmy age is 34, i have 1 child she is 6 i had her 4 weeks early,
i am now 34 weeks pregnant, and my amnotic fluid is leaking yesterday it was about a quarter of a cup if you were to be able to measure it, then it took a break for about 4 hours but then started to leak again (just little bits). what does this mean and what do i do about it...oh by the way the dr's think that i will not go any longer then 36 weeks due to a premature birth once before, and also due to the uterus being almost heart shaped,,but not completely sectioned.
waiting for your response thank you natasha
AnswerIf you suspect that your amniotic fluid may be leaking, you must first determine if it is, indeed, amniotic fluid or possibly urine. If you have, indeed, ruptured your membranes, there is a risk of infection if you are not delivered within 24-36 hours from the rupture. I would suggest that you go to the hospital and be evaluated for Premature rupture of membranes (PROM). If the membranes are ruptured, you will be induced if you do not go into labor in 24 hours, unless it is a "high" leak and stops.
